Without question, a few supplements have been massively impactful for quality of life.

The most common issues people ask me about are stomach problems ranging from one extreme to the other, gastric discomfort, joint pain, and fatigue. Two are soil-based probiotics and the best curcumin supplement I’ve found.

Many medical diagnoses associated with chronic illnesses are autoimmune diseases, high blood pressure, cardiac problems such as arrhythmias, diabetes, and cognitive decline, including Alzheimer’s and dementia.

All these symptoms stem from the mitochondria not functioning properly, which is becoming more and more evident. In my experience, the leading causes of mitochondrial dysfunction are toxicity and deficiencies.

One deficiency that I’ve seen work miracles when addressed is magnesium. This crucial mineral is used in thousands of bodily functions, although the commonly parroted amount is 300.

When stressed, we burn magnesium at a higher rate, meaning our bodies use more of it. When we are sick, our bodies burn more magnesium. Since most of the magnesium in our bodies is stored in bone, that’s where it’s pulled from, which contributes to osteoporosis.

In short, everyone would benefit from more magnesium. This is such an important topic that I’ll be putting out a multiple-part series on magnesium to not overwhelm you with too much information.

I’ve seen magnesium improve sleep, relieve headaches, improve blood pressure, assist in normalizing heart rhythms, relieve constipation, and improve anxiety. All in all, it’s a powerful tool for self-care.

I cannot stress enough the importance of working with a healthcare practitioner who understands minerals related to chronic disease and drug interaction. For example, many, and I mean many, pharmaceuticals deplete magnesium.

Self-care is something we must all partake in. At the end of the day, we are all responsible for our own health.

Ways to get more magnesium in the body:
– Supplement: This is a very deep topic, but as a brief overview, my favorite ones are BiOptimizers Magnesium Breakthrough and RNA Reset ReMag Ionic Magnesium.

– Take magnesium chloride flake baths: This differs from Epsom salts, which are wonderful but don’t absorb and stay in the body for as long. Ancient Minerals and Mag Solace are brands I’ve used.

– Magnesium spray: Some of the oils are slimy and unpleasant. Cymbiotika has a spray that absorbs well without the slime.

– Use high-quality sea salt with lots of supporting minerals: I like Celtic sea salt and desert sea salt as a way to avoid as many toxins and microplastics as possible.
I wish I could write out a list of incredible high-magnesium foods you should include to get all you need, but after years of research, I have no confidence that it’s possible for many reasons. I will cover this in much more depth within the series.

I supplement, and my family supplements to get adequate magnesium.

We just got restocked on BiOptimizers, so this post on an awareness and announcement 😉

As I conclude, I’ll also be taking a deeper look into what it means if you get a hair test that says your magnesium is high in the series. Hint: that’s only part of the whole story.

Sincerely
