While our relationship with Old Dog Pottery hasn’t been a long one, it sure is a special one. The chance encounter was at the Arkansas Made Arkansas Proud Show at War Memorial Stadium in April of 2018. Damon Helton and I went for a quick walk to see the other vendors and came upon an assortment of gorgeous pottery. The couple manning the booth beamed with friendly genuineness. When there is a combination of great products and wonderful people doing business is easy. I knew we had to work together.
Dale and Liane Maddox began making pottery in the mid-seventies while in college. In April of 1980, they opened a store and studio in northern Arkansas. The tourist community of Hardy is off the Spring River just south of Mammoth Springs. Over the next few decades, they built a reputation for top of the line handmade pottery and exceptional customer service.
In 2017 Dale and Liane moved to a new home and studio on the history-rich Petit Jean Mountain outside of Morrilton, Arkansas. I can only assume the picturesque scenery lends to peacefulness and even more creativity.
With a focus on craftsmanship, all pieces are lead free and safe to use in the dishwasher and microwave oven. Even though handmade pottery would make an outstanding decoration it is intended for daily use.
After a little bit of research and looking at Old Dog Pottery’s Etsy store my assumptions were confirmed. Dale and Liane are incredible people and artisans. At the time of writing, they have 151, 5-star reviews on Etsy. I can’t help but feel we have hit another home run with this partnership.
