Supplements are a handy tool to stimulate optimal health. In reviewing last year, the 3 standouts from Lander’s Corner are Just Thrive Probiotic, BiOptimizer Magnesium, and UltraCur.

1. Just Thrive Probiotics

Just Thrive Probiotic has been a game-changer for us. It’s a supplement that I believe in so strongly everyone in my family is on it, and I honestly can’t recommend it enough.

The microbiome was a primary focus for me when Lander was diagnosed with cancer. “All disease begins in the gut” is a quote by Hippocrates some 2500 years ago, and with modern research, that’s proving to be more and more accurate.

Gut health impacts our lives tremendously and is affected in many ways from our diet, antibiotic use, stress, sleep, toxins, and even if we were breastfed or natural birth. As Meg Green RD always says, “If the gut isn’t healthy, then nothing in the body is healthy.”

With an optimized microbiome, digestion and absorption of the food we eat are enhanced. It might sound crazy, but we can still be deficient in nutrients even if we eat them without the little gut bugs aiding in breaking them down or making them available for the body to use. This is very evident with many antioxidants.

My good friend and Dietary Specialist Meg Green is always someone I always bounce research off of as she is an invaluable resource. She says, “more and more research is becoming available showing certain strains of probiotics will be needed for specific diseases and more uniquely, personalized for individuals for optimal health.  Making sure we are diversifying and Reinoculating the gut with appropriate probiotics is a crucial step in the 5 R program.”

The most significant improvement I’ve heard is an increased improvement in the overall sense of well being. Also of gut distress has been reported to be reduced, and bowel regularity (less constipation or diarrhea) has also become better for many.

2. BiOptimizer Magnesium – Interview with CEO Wade Lightheart

I never fully understood how essential magnesium was until I began my quest for Lander’s battle to overcome cancer.

With over 300 functions inside the body, it’s a critical mineral. Not only is it critical it is one of the most common deficiencies in the American diet.

Meg says “As Logan said, it is used for everything from creating a regular heartbeat, regulating blood sugars, supporting healthy thoughts and mood, and even breathing, but half of the current population is deficient in Magnesium.  Foods that provided enough of the nutrient in the past have been cultivated and adapted over time to mass produce which has allowed once mineral-rich foods to be merely deficient in all minerals. One thing I love about this supplements is the variety of magnesium it provides so it attacks deficiencies and symptoms on multiple levels.  People get relief very quickly with this supplement.”

BiOptimizers has formulated a supplement with 7 different forms of magnesium that the body can utilize making it uniquely superior to all of the magnesium supplements I’m aware of.

The most common reports I get are reduced headaches, better sleep, and lack of constipation.

3. UltraCur  Facebook Video

Turmeric kept coming up repeatedly in my research as a critical component in alleviating a considerable range of positive effects, and most importantly to us is the anticancer properties.

Curcumin has a ton of published research, so many of the claims can be scientifically substantiated.

UltraCur has developed a product that gets the highest known amount of curcuminoids into the blood, maximizing effects.

Pain reduction has, without a doubt, been the major points of feedback I’ve received.  The anti-inflammatory properties lead to many improvements overall.

Meg Green shares inflammation is everywhere and is the core of disease.  Curcumin is so potent when attacking inflammation when it has the right support.  I love when supplements create blends that truly optimize absorption.
